Teesdale is located on the east flank of the Northern Pennines and has some spectacular and unique scenery with a large part of upper Teesdale falling under the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  The largest town within Teesdale is Barnard Castle which has a medieval castle, abbey and French château amongst its attractions. There are also many other villages along the dale such as Middleton-in-Teesdale, Romaldkirk, Mickleton, Cotherstone and Eggleston that all offer their own charm.
